Week 35

Prenatal Online Exercise

Hello There!

At this stage in your pregnancy..

Baby size: honeydew melon

A commonly asked question is “will orgasm start labour?”. The answer to this is "No", unless you are at the end of your pregnancy and your body is already prepared to start labouring. Women commonly experience Braxton Hicks contractions when climaxing, but this will not start labour. Partners may feel concern about hurting their pregnant partner, or their baby, when having intercourse during late pregnancy. Penetration won't hurt your unborn baby. The cervix is sealed with a thick mucous plug that helps prevent infection and your baby is well protected within the uterus.

As your belly gets bigger your abdominals stretch and your centre of gravity and posture change. This week we’d like to draw attention to safe lifting, to avoid injury to your back, pelvis or pelvic floor. Today’s education video is part of the Antenatal Education Video with Natalie.

Crab Walks

This exercise will challenge your glute, deep abdominal and pelvic floor strength, while improving your overall coordination and stability. Choose whether or not you would like to use a resistance band around your knees to increase the difficulty of the exercise.

Squat and Tuck

Starting in a high kneel position, engage through your pelvic floor muscles to 60-70%. Then lower your bottom down towards your heels with the inbreath, Then tuck your tailbone between your thighs, or tip your pelvis posteriorly, and lift back up to the starting position with the outbreath.

Upper Body Stretch

Join Millie to move and stretch the upper body, lengthening through the spine and broadening across the chest. This stretch can be done at any time during pregnancy and also compliments the Stretching with Pelvic Pain class.

Learn to lift, safely.

Everyday movements can be challenging when pregnant. Learn the safest ways to move in our Antenatal Education Class with Nat. Safe lifting starts at 25:26.
