Prenatal Aquatic Classes in Canberra

We’ve ben running physio-led prenatal aquatic classes in Canberra for 11 years and we’d love you to come and join us in the pool at Hartley Hydrotherapy in Hughes. These classes offer a safe, low-impact way to stay active, manage pregnancy discomfort, and move with confidence throughout pregnancy. The classes are also a lot of fun and we’ve had many classes become a mothers group and stay in touch for years.

Why Prenatal Aquatic Exercise Works in Pregnancy

Aquatic exercise is particularly well suited to pregnancy because water provides support without impact. Many women find it more comfortable than land-based exercise, especially as pregnancy progresses.

Benefits include:

  • Reduced load through hips, pelvis, and spine

  • Improved comfort with back or pelvic girdle pain

  • Gentle strength and cardiovascular conditioning

  • Reduced swelling and muscle tension

  • Improved posture and movement confidence

Physio-Led Prenatal Aquatic Classes in Canberra

Unlike general aqua fitness, our prenatal aquatic classes are designed and supervised by women’s physiotherapists with expertise in pregnancy and pelvic health.

Each class includes:

  • Pregnancy-appropriate strength and endurance exercises

  • Pelvic stability and postural support

  • Breath awareness and relaxation

  • Modifications for different trimesters and symptoms

  • Clear physio guidance and individual modifications

Classes are suitable across pregnancy unless your healthcare provider has advised otherwise.
